Creator God, we meet You where we are today.
We acknowledge the pain of the oppressed.
We recognize the fear of refugees.
We listen to the cries of those who must endure the end of pregnancy before their dreams for their child have been realized.
We watch those who worry for the country they have always known – one changing in color, gender, religion, and race. Help them see the goodness in evolution and the possibility of an inclusive future.
Meet us in the pain, fear, cries, and worry.
We approach our hopes for tomorrow with the kind of expectance you have taught us – through Mary’s tenacity, Ruth’s commitment, and Esther’s determination.
Meet us with hope-filled expectations.
We have prayed. We have walked. We have labored. We have remained faithful to the tenets of your teachings.
Meet us as we acknowledge our work.
And now we wait. We pause our work and sit in the unknown. We remember the anxious gap between death and resurrection. It is in the mystery of waiting that we find rest and resilience.
Meet us in the mystery.
May the work of our leaders unveil Your hopes for us. Soften their hearts and require of them to act justly, to love mercifully, and to walk humbly.
May it be so, today and every day.
Amen
