A Big Thank You!

We wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to Doug Pagitt.

Doug has recently decided to move on from his position with Convergence.

For the last three years, Doug has played an integral part at Convergence, working tirelessly on ideation, programming, and many of the other wonderful things that Convergence is up to in the world. Doug is going to be greatly missed, but we are excited for what the future holds for one of our dearest friends.

Below is a copy of Doug’s letter that he posted online yesterday announcing the news.

I’m taking a big step in my life today.

I have decided to leave my job with Convergence/OPEN, an organization that does great work connecting Leaders, Learners, Activists and Artists toward a just and generous faith and world.

It has been my privilege to connect with so many wonderful people and to do so much important work with and through Convergence.

For the last number of years, even before my work with Convergence, I have organized my work life in two parts – with Solomon’s Porch being my first and foremost commitment (my role with and passion for Solomon’s Porch remains unchanged).

I now have the opportunity to look at options for the second part of my work life and while I currently have no specific next steps or work plans I look forward to the future.

I have never had this level of openness, possibility and freedom when it comes to my work future. I look forward to seeing what configurations and options come into view.

I am doing what I can to prepare myself for what could likely be the skills needed in my next work endeavors, including practicing the phrases, “Did you call an Uber?”, “Would you prefer paper or plastic?”, “Welcome to Walmart” and of course “Would you like fries with that?”

For today my mantra is, “hey future, I’m here and ready for what’s next”.
