A note from Cameron Trimble, CEO of Convergence:
I’m excited to announce some news for Convergence: Adam Phillips is our new Sr. Director of Mobilization. I first met Adam near a rice paddy in rural Thailand in 2014 where a small, but powerful gathering of Christians from around the globe were gathering with Brian McLaren and others to come together and reimagine what church could be for the 21st century.
Adam is founding pastor of Christ Church: Portland, an open, active and inclusive church that was kicked out of their evangelical denomination three years ago for their stance on LGBTQ inclusion. He comes with a tremendous amount of experience in advocacy and social justice, having previously led faith mobilization for the ONE Campaign.
This year we’ll be continuing to gather and mobilize Christians that find themselves drawn to a higher vision of church – just and generous community & spirituality for the common good.
Adam will be leading our online campaigns and will also be organizing some exciting pilgrimages and leadership opportunities. If you’d like to know a little more about his story, click here to view his TEDx talk from last October.

A note from Adam, with a vision for just and generous Christ-centered communities:
I couldn’t be more excited to join in with Convergence – a place where I see folks gathering across traditions as well an integrated sense of spirituality for the common good. It’s as if the Spirit is moving us to converge on the new essentials: just and generous community and spirituality for the common good.
As the founder of a local progressive church, I understand the needs of those looking to embody these practices in a rooted, local context. I also find myself looking for co-conspirators, partners and resources to help root my community in their embodied practice of living out the ways of Jesus in the 21st century.
I just got back from a once-in-a-lifetime Civil Rights pilgrimage with Congressman John Lewis, who walks what he talks when it comes to faith-rooted practice. While on that pilgrimage I had a profound sense of confirmation on the call of all of us looking to follow Jesus today: mobilizing our whole selves in community, across the country, and around the globe, for the kind of transformation we’ve been longing for.
So this year, I’m grateful to be able to play a small part in that work. We’ll be partnering with others for effective campaigns around gun control, climate change, LGBTQ inclusion, gender equality, immigration reform and dismantling white supremacy. That’s a tall order when you look at it, but there are focused and effective ways we each can join in to do what’s right. I’m also excited about a couple gatherings, like pilgrimage, that are beginning to take shape that I can’t wait to tell you about.
