WHO DO WE CHOOSE TO BE IN THE AGE OF COLLAPSE?

A Strategic Framework

By: Rev. Cameron Trimble, CEO Convergence

The re-election of Donald Trump to the presidency presents an unprecedented crisis for American democracy. During his first tenure, the institutional guardrails of our nation’s rule of law and constitutional freedoms held, though strained. Now, with those same guardrails weakened, the institutions that have guided this country for over two centuries are poised to fail, and may fail faster than we can predict. We must not underestimate what this moment requires of us.

This complex report offers a variety of solutions for conferences, congregations, and individuals.

Consulting

Organizational Assessment
This is a fact-driven and detailed assessment of the congregation and your community through an online survey to members, interviews with congregational leaders and interviews with community leaders.
Congregational Engagement Sessions
It's important to engage a majority of the congregation in the planning process so that the process benefits from as many ideas and perspectives as possible. In this phase, we will create experiences for feedback and idea generation.

Consulting

Futures Lab
A Futures Lab is an exploratory space for imagining different futures by surfacing the assumptions we hold in the present. It’s a process helpful in breaking through blindspots and a poverty of imagination so that together, we architect a preferred future rather than be colonized by one.
Strategic Plan Development
Your next step will be the creation of a strategic plan that explains your mission, vision, themes, goals and values. The goal of this document is to create a plan for your "next best steps" with a sense of a future you intend to architect for future generations of your church.

Consulting

Coaching for Teams

Convergence empowers progressive organizations through coaching that is team-focused, practical, and life-giving.

  • team-focused: coaching that takes into account the context of they dynamics in your team and the ways in which you do ministry together.
  • practical: coaching that engages in inquiry that results in action.
  • life-giving: coaching that creates space to find joy, meaning, and transformation in ministry and community.

Futures Training

Using tools from Futures Literacy, a Futures Lab guides participants to surface hidden assumptions, consider unexplored possibilities, and reimagine the future they want to build. It helps congregations break free from “poverty of imagination” and chart a bold, innovative path forward.

Questions we explore in a futures lab:

  • What is the most likely future if we continue on our current trajectory?
  • What does our most desirable future look like?
  • What assumptions /blindspots are blocking our creativity?
  • What impact do we hope to have on the world?
  • What practical steps can we take now that create the future we now see?

Consulting

These questions, coupled with small group discussions, reveal deep values and long-held assumptions. The process opens the door to new thinking and helps the congregation articulate a vision for the future that is both innovative and grounded in their unique mission.

This tool is ideal for conference visioning or as an individual congregation tool.

Conflict is an inevitable part of human community. People are complicated, and as we relate to one another, we open ourselves to misunderstandings, miscommunication, and strong emotions. Engaging conflict creatively presents tremendous opportunities for personal and congregational transformation when handled well. Unfortunately, conflict in churches all too often tears congregations apart rather than making them stronger.

Convergence provides a dynamic and engaging approach to conflict transformation for churches, denominations, NGOs and business organizations. This training is particularly effective for leadership councils, Sessions, Vestries and curated congregational groups.

This workshop will walk your group through how to become skilled in conflict transformation. You will learn skills that will reshape your interactions with present and future congregational conflict and equip you for managing conflict in your work and personal life.
